MAHARASHTRIAN TOOR DAAL

Instructions
- Wash Toor daal, add salt and in a pressure cooker cook for 4-5 whistle. When the pressure cooker cools down, open it and whisk the daal nicely
- In a pan heat 2 tablespoon oil add mustard seeds wait till it crackles, then add hing, curry leaves, turmeric powder and mix well
- Add red chili powder, kokum or tamarind paste, sugar and stir
- Add daal and 1 cup water . Let daal boil for 10-12 minutes
- In a small pan heat 1 tablespoon oil and add chopped garlic and red dry chillies
- Wait till garlic turns light brown then add this and coriander leaves to daal and turn off the gas and cover for at least five minutes.
- Serve with plain white rice.
